LITA focuses on language acquisition.

We help high school students arrive at a profound understanding of the linguistic and cultural diversity that exists in Spain.

Although each trip is customized based on the individual group, all trips feature a similar structure, including an orientation, homestay, backcountry adventures and urban explorations. There are currently two options for our programs, a five week open enrollment language immersion program, which runs during the summer, and our “school program”, which is customized to meet an individual school’s needs.

We strive to organize completely unique, authentic experiences for our students. From off-the-beaten-path explorations to discovering the latest in Spanish music, food, and art, LITA’s participants are completely immersed in Spain’s vibrant culture.

LITA’s team takes great measures to pair students with carefully-screened families based on interests and family dynamics. LITA’s Director's, Jordan Romm and Michela Corcorran, personally visit each home prior to travel to ensure a safe, well-matched homestay experience. Learn more about our families here.

Internships, Language Classes and Independent Research Projects

To further enhance the immersion experience, LITA offers each student the opportunity to complete an internship or take language classes and complete an independent research project during the homestay. These unique experiences provide students the chance to build relationships in the local community outside of their host family and to begin to explore personal areas of interest, all while developing their language skills. Internship options are diverse- working in a bakery, camp, museum or café- and are handled on an individual basis.

Personalized attention and safety are LITA's highest priorities. All trips are led by two experienced leaders and include on-site supervision and involvement from Jordan and Michela throughout the duration of the program.

“LITA surpassed our expectations. It was exceptional, in every way---from the itinerary, the outstanding leaders, to the obvious care that went into picking the host families and internships---the trip provided an opportunity for an authentic Spanish experience, and allowed the kids to really get beneath the surface of life in Spain. LITA was a gift; our son thoroughly enjoyed every single aspect of the trip. As he wrote to us "I am running out of positive adjectives"...he loved this experience, and thanked us repeatedly throughout the summer for allowing him to have this wonderful opportunity.”
— Elizabeth Friedman, parent, 2014
"This summer I gained that intangible understanding of Spanish that will propel further learning. I learned how to think in Spanish, not just how to speak it."
— Amadeo Shrestha, student, 2016
